At Ella’s Angels, we believe that small acts of kindness can warm hearts — and sometimes, they can literally keep someone warm. This past month, we were proud to donate a large set of cozy beanies to Yale University’s Hunger and Homelessness Action Project (YHHAP). The donation was part of our continued mission to support youth, families, and communities in need, not only locally but across the country.
A beanie may seem like a simple accessory, but for someone facing cold weather without adequate clothing, it’s so much more. It represents comfort, dignity, and relief during tough times. Students at Yale working through YHHAP are dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in New Haven, Connecticut. By partnering with them, we were able to extend the reach of Ella’s Angels and make sure our donation directly supports those who need it most.
What makes this donation so special is that it was truly a collaboration between young people. Ella’s Angels is a youth-founded nonprofit, and YHHAP is run by passionate college students determined to tackle hunger and housing insecurity in their own backyard. Together, these organizations show how much of a difference young leaders can make when they step forward with compassion and energy.
Every time someone puts on one of these beanies, it carries a message: you are cared for. And that message doesn’t just stop with the person wearing it. Acts of kindness often spark more kindness — inspiring others to give, serve, and share what they can. That’s the ripple effect we aim to create with every donation.
Our beanie drive is just one example of how Ella’s Angels is working year-round to support communities. You can join in, too:
Donate directly to our programs.
Together, we can keep more people warm — in body and in spirit.
At Ella’s Angels, we’re not just giving items; we’re giving hope. And with the help of organizations like YHHAP, we know these acts of hope will continue to grow.
